In the beginning

Before Covid-19 arrived, I had a beginners stained glass workshop booked as a present from my wife. Like most things then, the course was postponed. Five postponements later the course was cancelled and a refund issued.

As a result of the cancellation I needed a new present. After some online research and YouTube videos the decision was made to teach myself how to create stained glass suncatchers. The refund went towards the cost of the start kit.

The first creations were not a great works of art, but it there was stained glass star and a sort of Christmas Tree.

First Craft Fair

After months of practice, research and the spending of more money, this time on a glass grinder and well as other glass supplies. The grinder helped massively with getting the edges smooth and making sure that everything was aligning properly.

After creating a stock of finished pieces I decided to try and sell some pieces, so I found a makers market that supported a local charity and had my first stall. After five hours, I had sold enough pieces to be able to purchase more supplies.

Since then

Over the last couple of years I have been selling through Etsy and Small Craft events as well as renting a shelf in a handmade store. I have sold items all over the UK and shipped two panels to Australia.

2023 has seen an increase in craft fairs, saying goodbye to the shelf rental and a reduction in Etsy sales.

Going forward

Quirky Cottage Glass has now started to attend larger events, a couple of local Christmas light switch ons, where over four thousand people came through the doors.

A new design of stall, with a more professional feel. The setup of this website and plans for a new online shop, as well as more craft events for 2024.
